Built in 1939 and commissioned by Captain A.C. Tener, Tyrone was designed to be manageable enough for a single captain to sail. This 73-foot wooden schooner, with a 15-foot beam and 9-foot draft, is home ported in Rockland, Maine. In her past, Tyrone was privately owned by families who used her for personal sailing adventures. Today, she is owned by two experienced sailors who continue her legacy on the water. Accommodating up to six passengers, Tyrone now serves as a platform for educational sail training and youth programs, offering hands-on experiences that connect new generations to traditional seamanship and life at sea.
