Even though it's cold outside, we're not hibernating! Here's a new Ship Digest to keep you entertained while you huddle inside for warmth.

• @elgaleonandalucia just finished her stay in Valencia, Spain, offering locals the chance to step aboard, tour their decks, and discover how sailors who crossed oceans lived in the 17th century.

• To celebrate the holidays, the crew of the beautiful @windjammerangelique once again attached a Christmas tree on the mast of the ship. Go to their page to see how they do it year after year!

• Last week, INS Sudarshini conducted a three-hour long demonstration alongside other Indian ships to celebrate the country's Navy Day.

Though the term "port" is often used to describe a town or city with a harbor, it can also refer to a part of a ship! The port is the left side of the boat when facing forward, opposite of the starboard. Unlike the words "left" and "right," port and starboard are fixed locations on a vessel, and the terms help sailors avoid confusion when following commands.

Today, we're spotlighting the Alpine Butterfly Bend, also known as Lineman's Loop. This knot is used to form a fixed loop in the middle of a rope, and it is related to other interlocking overhand knots.

It's almost time to dive into a plate of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce! 🦃 In (early) celebration of Thanksgiving, we're spotlighting the Mayflower II, a reproduction of the original Mayflower ship.

Though the Mayflower is one of the most iconic American symbols, the Mayflower II was built in England in collaboration between Englishman Warwick Charlton and @plimothpatuxet. Inspired by the wartime cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United States during WWII, Charlton created Project Mayflower to create a replica of the Mayflower as a token of Anglo-American friendship. In exchange for providing ship blueprints and a promise to exhibit the ship, Project Mayflower agreed to build Mayflower II and sail her across the Atlantic Ocean to Plimoth Patuxet.

The Mayflower II made her maiden transatlantic voyage from Plymouth, England on April 20, 1957, and later docked in Plymouth, Massachusetts to become a tourist attraction. After more than three years of restoration, the ship was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

⚓ After months of preparation, @dutchtallship is currently on route to Plymouth, UK! This is the ship's first stop on a longer trip to Cape Verde. You can follow her progress through the VesselFinder app and website. 🇳🇱

⚓ Last week, the crew of @kldtunas celebrated the 36th anniversary of the commissioning of the ship with a procession, ceremony, and (of course) cake. 🇲🇾

⚓ The @shabab_oman_ll finished its seventh international voyage, "Glories of the Sea 2025." The journey included visits to multiple European ports as a cultural ambassadors of Oman's maritime heritage. 🇴🇲
