The German tall ship known as the “Ambassador in White,” Gorch Fock was built in 1958. She’s the second ship under the Gorch Fock mantle, and both were named after the pseudonym of German writer Johann Kinau. The new design is almost identical to the original Gorch Fock except for last-minute changes added for safety reasons. Today, the German Navy (Deutsche Marine) uses Gorch Fock as a training vessel for naval cadets, and the ship has sailed hundreds of thousands of nautical miles since its first voyage.
