Fame is a full-scale replica of the first American privateer to set out during the War of 1812, and the first to make a capture. She seized over 20 prizes before being wrecked in 1814. The modern Fame was launched in 2003 by National Heritage Fellow Harold Burnham. She cruises on Salem Sound, where pirates, privateers, East Indiamen, and men of war have been making history for 400 years.
