The Esmeralda is a steel-hulled barquentine operated by the Chilean Navy as a sail training vessel. Built in 1953, she measures 371 feet in length with a beam of 43 feet and a draft of 23 feet, making her one of the largest tall ships still in active service. Her home port is Valparaíso, Chile, and she has long been used to train naval cadets in traditional seamanship. Known affectionately as the “White Lady,” she is the sixth Chilean naval vessel to carry the name Esmeralda and remains one of the most recognizable and historic training ships afloat today.
