The ARC Gloria is a Colombian Navy flagship and training vessel ported in Cartagena. Built in 1968 with a steel hull, the Class A barque measures 212 feet 3 inches in length, with a beam of 34 feet 9 inches and a draft of 21 feet 8 inches. Operated by the ARC (Armada Nacional de la República de Colombia), the ship began sailing after the Colombian government authorized the National Navy to establish a naval training vessel. The name “Gloria” comes from the line “Oh gloria inmarcesible” in the Colombian national anthem, which is traditionally sung upon entering the ship. Today, the ARC Gloria serves as a training platform for Colombian naval cadets as well as a symbol of national pride.
