The American Eagle has had a varied life since her launch in 1930; first as an auxiliary schooner, then an eastern-rig dragger, and now as a windjammer. One of the last original Gloucester fishing schooners, American Eagle blends the function of a period yacht while keeping the charm of the western Atlantic’s working vessels. She was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1991.
