⇒ Sail Boston Staff attend Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge Meeting
On February 11th, Sail Boston’s David Choate and Maria Parra Loughlin attended a joint ports meeting in Washington, DC to review planning for the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge. In addition to the meetings, David and Maria met with the Naval Attachés from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Uruguay. Sail Boston is hopeful to have the opportunity to host the South American fleet of Tall Ships during Sail Boston 2009. Sail Boston’s David Choate attended the American Sail Training Association Conference in Victoria, British Colombia on November 8-10, 2007. David was able to present Sail Boston 2009 and the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge to many North American based Tall Ship owner and operators. The following week Maria Parra-Loughlin joined David Choate in Liverpool to attend the Sail Training International Conference. At the conference, they met with the owner representatives of many of the European based Tall Ships. There were discussions with the owners of the Russian ship STS Sedov, the largest Tall Ship in the world, to participate in Sail Boston 2009. ⇒ Sail Boston 2009 Named Official Port of the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge
The port of Boston and Sail Boston, Inc. were selected as an official port of the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge. The event organizers of Sail Boston, Inc. join five other ports encompassing the Atlantic Basin. Other ports include: Vigo, Spain; Tenerife, Canary Islands; Bermuda; Halifax, Canada; and Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge is organized by Sail Training International, with the American Sail Training Association arranging ports and races along the East Coast of the United States.
